108 Grille
If you are a downtown Franklin enthusiast, check out 108 Grille on Bridge Street. Housed in the Old Franklin Jail (former home of Monells) 108 Grille is not for the timid. The atmosphere is sports bar meets white tablecloth. With flat screen TVs visible from most tables, but discreetly muted, you can keep up with your favorite sporting event while trying out the adventurous menu of chef Jody Disabantonio. 108 Grille offers daily happy hour and monthly menu changes, so each visit feels like the first time. The garbage plate is a throwback to Yankee home cooking; something we here in the south are not used to. It is something akin to leftover pot luck but delicious. It's a mystery how they do it.
The menu is not your daily fare, with sweet potato fries and pomegranate ketchup as an appetizer favorite. The Orange Crush and Chocolate Raspberry Martinis are a must try.
Next month's menu change will incorporate more seafood selections. The service at 108 Grille is excellent without being suffocating. Homemade chips are brought to your table in lieu of bread.
As for the dessert menu, it changes daily. I had the chocolate covered pretzels which left a little something to be desired.
All in all, 108 Grille offers great atmosphere, a small but adventurous menu and the cool and mysterious history of the old Franklin Jail to create a unique dining experience and a fresh addition to the Franklin scene.

What is your rating LeAnne? Will you return or were you satisfied with a one time visit? What is the price range? Do they have a bar? When Monells was there they didn't. I would be interested to know what the seating arrangement is since monell's was family style. Which, I know, I know, a bit snobby to admit but I don't like eating at a table family style with people I don't know. So I am hopeful 108 Grille has a better seating arrangement. Give me more details..... :)
